Don't Forget...

The Top Ten Things People Forget
&
The Ultimate Packing List

Have you ever found that after making multiple packing lists you still arrive at your destination missing something you need. These often forgotten items can be costly at your destination, which can act as an unexpected expense in your spending budget really putting a damper on your vacation plans. For this week's post I have created a list of the top ten things people forget to pack so you can check your suitcase one more time before heading on that trip!

1. Rain Jacket- Many people don't think to bring a rain jacket when heading on vacation, but as much as we wish it didn't happen rainy days do happen on vacation. Rain jackets can help you when you least expect it, like when you're standing outside waiting for a shuttle or just walking to dinner, a lightweight rain jacket will take up little room in your suitcase but really save you in a rainy situation.

2. Belt-  A belt is one of my top contenders for forgotten items. You don't really think about how much comfort your belt can provide you, especially when your walking long distances. When you're doing a lot of walking it can be quite the nuisance to have pants that are falling down. Belts can be pricey, so make sure yours is one of the first items in your suitcase.

3. Sunglasses- Everyone has their favorite pair of sunglasses, and forgetting yours can be costly when you arrive to your destination. Tropical places and beaches mark up their beach attire so you may find yourself paying more for sunglasses you don't really like.

4. Prescriptions- Prescriptions are something that are hard to replace if you were to forget them. They can cause you to become ill on vacation. I recommend if possible to to put some of your prescriptions in a separate ziplock for your carry on, just incase your luggage is lost.

5. Bathing suit- Have you ever travelled to somewhere where you didn't need a bathing suit, only to realize your hotel has a pool or hot tub. Making a bathing suit a staple in your suitcase can save you the trouble of going to different stores trying to find a bath suit while out of town.

6. Laptop charger- Laptop chargers can be pricing which is an added expense i'm sure no one wants to spend on vacation. Bringing your laptop charger can help you to accomplish work while on vacation, or just allow you to watch movies on long flights.

7. Copies of travel documents- No one plans to lose their passport when traveling but lost travel documents can cause you to be stuck in another country until someone stateside obtains copies of your travel documents. To avoid this make copies of all your documents and keep them in a safe place in your purse or suitcase.

8. Sweatshirt- No one thinks to bring a sweatshirt when heading to somewhere hot. A sweatshirt can really come in handy when its cooler in the evenings or even in the airport. Nothing is better than when you are seeking comfort to have your favorite sweatshirt in your suitcase.

9. Trash bag/Laundry bag- Everyone always wants to take the dry cleaning bag from hotel rooms to keep their dirty clothes separate from their clean clothes, but if you're traveling with multiple people you may not always be the winner of the bag. Packing your own takes up very little space in your suitcase as well as saves you an argument with your family.

10. Headphones- When you are flying headphones become a necessity. Whether to block out the person snoring next to you or the baby screaming in aisle 24, be sure to pack your own to save yourself from a miserable flight or being forced to pay airport markups.
